The book of Deuteronomy recounts a conversation between Adonai and His prophet, Moses.
Our Lord tenderly reveals to His servant that “after your death, the people will abandon me and worship the Gods of the Egyptians.”
The Lord is aware of the conditions of the heart and their lack of faith in the unseen God, who brought them out of slavery and subjugation; this is why the people wanted their familiar gods.
Amazingly, the God who answers to no one finds Himself bound to His promises. A promise that was so binding between Adonai (God of Israel and the patriarchs) left the Lord without a choice, the thought of withdrawing Himself from the commitment made between He and Abraham was out of the question. More importantly, if the sincerity of God’s Word dissipated by a fraction, then the integrity of all Creation would become fractured resulting in cosmic chaos.
So the Holy One becomes attached to a rebellious and sinful people by a promise that was stronger than an adhesive that God Himself could not break. There was nothing inside of God that suggested turning back on His word. The Lord’s dilemma had nothing to do with power or might; it was His integrity that created such an adhesive that the Words of Him Who created the universe by words, which shackled Him to a disobedient child was because He would not give up on His promise.
More importantly, in the time of Israel’s disobedience, they became separated from God’s blessing and prosperity because of their transgressions.
Ephesians 2:1 And you [He made alive when you] were [spiritually] dead and separated from Him because of your transgressions and sins,
2:2 in which you once walked. You were following the ways of this world [influenced by this present age], in accordance with the prince of the power of the air (Satan), the spirit who is now at work in the disobedient [the unbelieving, who fight against the purposes of God]. Ephesians 2:1-2

It looked like us, but it was not like us. The Lord sent His Living Word, not written in stone, but living among the lost. The Messiah preached against sin, but He also let the sinner know of an undeserving Grace Covenant awaiting anyone who trusts in a Savior and does what He promises. God promised to sprinkle us with water, then put His spirit on the inside of us. In other words, the Lord will break the power of the curse of the Law while giving us His Spirit to guide us.
Psalms 11:19 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you,
and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in
My statutes, and you will keep My ordinances and do them.
Again, God will send the Holy Spirit into our hearts causing us to have His nature on the inside of us.
A New Heart
This act of God is so unfair because we get the deal of the universe and God gets our thanks?
While under the Law people would return each year for the Day of Atonement to ceremonially be right with God year after year.
By Adonai sending the Word made flesh, as the Messiah, He atoned humanity in two crucial areas, ethical and spiritual.
ETHICAL Is when the Christ gives us a new heart making us decent, humane, moral, noble, upright and loyal.

SPIRITUAL

In the spiritual sense, we hear God’s voice leading and guiding the believer’s heart through Biblical truth. As long as we can detect God’s voice from our selfless desires, our growth is uninterrupted, until becoming overcomers in Christ.
The Book of Revelation 3:14 – 19
“I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant. You make me want to vomit. You brag, ‘I’m rich, I’ve got it made, I need nothing from anyone,’ oblivious that in fact you’re a pitiful, blind beggar, threadbare and homeless.
“Here’s what I want you to do: Buy your gold from me, gold that’s been through the refiner’s fire. Then you’ll be rich. Buy your clothes from me, clothes designed in Heaven. You’ve gone around half-naked long enough. And buy medicine for your eyes from me so you can see, really see.
“The people I love, I call to account—prod and correct and guide so that they’ll live at their best. Up on your feet, then! About face! Run after God!
The religious world will say that our sins are all covered under the blood. This statement is true but let’s not stop with the Lord’s process. Remember we are pressing for the high marks, and a real athlete will never stop pushing forward, but they will press for the prize. The full truth is simple: The Spirit of God wants to use you like a page from His Story.

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Again, let us look at the definitions of ethical and spiritual by using the symbolism chiefly of which embodies two phases:
ETHICAL
(1) the actual removal of sin by the person’s own activity, “Wherewith shall a young man cleanse zakah his way?” (Ps 119:9); “Cleanse your hands, ye sinners” (Jas 4:8)
“Let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement” (2 Cor 7:1)

(2) God’s removal of the guilt and power of sin, as, by discipline or punishment: “He cleanseth it” (Jn 15:2, AV “purgeth”); “I have cleansed thee” (Ezk 24:13);
In forgiveness, justification, sanctification. In these latter cases, the exculpatory idea is sometimes prominent, although the other is not absent:
“I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon their iniquities” (Jer 33:8);
In Eph 5:26, it is hard to determine whether pardon or God-given holiness is predominant:
“That he might sanctify it (the church), having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word.” In 1 Jn 1:7, the sanctification meaning seems almost wholly to absorb the other: “The blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us (“is purifying, sanctifying”) from all sin”; but in 1:9 it is again hard to determine the predominance:
“He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sin, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” The uncertainty lies in that the second clause may not, as in our speech, add a distinct idea, but maybe Hebrew synonymous parallelism. Perhaps it is not wise to seek too curiously to disentangle the two ideas since they cannot be separated. God never “clears” where he has not begun to “cleanse,” and never “cleanses” by the Spirit without “clearing” through the blood.
