Gog and Magog

The moFotolia_66018125_XS-(1)st incredible influence historically is how Biblical prophecy directly influences earthly events. Throughout human Biblical history, prophecy has determined the players and outcomes on the world stage. As far back as the book of Genesis, prophets foretold the outcome of future battles between the forces of good and evil. Development of the enemies of Israel and their final battles were already determined. But then again, what are the signs of these upcoming events? How much should be relied on the recent sign in the night’s sky called a blood moon? According to the legend of the Blood Moon, these advanced announcements to the world were significant regarding events that will take place concerning the nation of Israel.   Pastor John Hagee, an expert on blood moons did a review of the previous times the four Blood Moons occurred on the Jewish holidays of Passover and Feast of Tabernacles. Fotolia_2646691_XS According to Hagee, a Blood Moon occurred in 1493-94 and there was the expulsion of Jews from Spain.

In 1949-50 there was a blood moon and the Jews were fighting for their land.                                                                                                     In 1967-68 another Blood Moon occurred and the Jews were reclaiming the entire city of Jerusalem.                                                   In 2014-15, there are four lunar eclipses (Blood Moons) as listed below:

Passover, April 15, 2014,                                                                  Feast of Tabernacles, October 8, 2014,

(Total solar eclipse March 20, 2015)

Passover, April 4, 2015,                                                                    Feast of Tabernacles, September 28, 2015.

Hagee also noted that the Shemittah year begins September 25, 2014 and ends September 13, 2015. http://www.christianbook.com/four-blood-moons-something-about-change/john-hagee/9781617952142/pd/952142?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=titles&utm_term=four%20blood%20moons%20hagee&event=PPCSRC&p=1020037 Those who understand the Jewish calendar know that their calendars are setup by the lunar cycle. Therefore, blood moons are very rare and important to all Israelis. Moreover, when blood moons appeared they forewarned of a significant event surrounding the nation of Israel. The most recent blood moon should cause Bible believers to look toward Israel to see if any biblical prophecy is afoot. For examplesMideast Syria Iraq, we have heard about Russia moving into Ukraine.  We also heard that ISIS with little resistance, is marching toward Baghdad and Syria. Interesting enough, these areas are associated in Biblical history as Gog and Magog.

2 “Son of man, turn and face Gog of the land of Magog, the prince who rules over the nations of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.                                                                                                3 Give him this message from the Sovereign LORD: Gog, I am your enemy!                                                                                               4 I will turn you around and put hooks in your jaws to lead you out with your whole army– your horses and charioteers in full armor and a great horde armed with shields and swords.               5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya will join you, too, with all their weapons.                                                                                                    6 Gomer and all its armies will also join you, along with the armies of Beth-togarmah from the distant north, and many others.                                                                                                         7 “Get ready; be prepared! Keep all the armies around you mobilized, and take command of them.                                                8 A long time from now you will be called into action. In the distant future you will swoop down on the land of Israel, which will be enjoying peace after recovering from war and after its people have returned from many lands to the mountains of Israel.  (Eze 38:2-8 NLT)

The Old Persian language is one of the two directly attested Old Iranian languages (the other being Avestan). Old Persian is the Pre-Islamic language of Persia. Old Persian appears primarily in the inscriptions, clay tablets, and seals of the Achaemenid era (c. 600 BCE to 300 BCE). Examples of Old Persian have been found in what is now present-day Iran, Bahrain, Iraq, Turkey and Egypt.

 GOMER

  – 1. Son of Japheth Gen 10:2 The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.  Gen 10:3 The descendants of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.  1Ch 1:5 The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

  MAGOG

   – Son of Japheth Gen 10:2 The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.  1Ch 1:5 The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

 Prophecy concerning Gog and Magog

8 He will go out to deceive the nations– called Gog and Magog– in every corner of the earth. He will gather them together for battle– a mighty army, as numberless as sand along the seashore.  9 And I saw them as they went up on the broad plain of the earth and surrounded God’s people and the beloved city. But fire from heaven came down on the attacking armies and consumed them.  10 Then the devil, who had deceived them, was thrown into the fiery lake of burning sulfur, joining the beast and the false prophet. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (Rev 20:8-10 NLT) Symbolical of the enemies of God MESHECH   – 1. Also called MESECH       · Son of Japheth Gen 10:2 The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. 1Ch 1:5 The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.  When it comes to prophecy there are three books of the Bible that triangulates the end of the ages.  These are the book of Daniel, the book of Ezekiel, and the book of Revelation. These ancient books reveal total control that God has over history. For instance, the most recent event known as the blood moon is a sign from heaven of some major event associating Israel and a world event. After the event of the blood moon, man should look for a major announcement from heaven since God speaks through world events concerning the nation of Israel. Many Christians may already be aware that the prophecy of Ezekiel concerning dry bones was directly related to Israel’s spiritual deadness. Amazingly, Israel will go through a period of revival in the last days, as likewise the believing Gentile nations. God tells the dry bones that I will put breath and spirit in you and you will realize that I am the sovereign ruler, who calls for loyalty and obedient service (Ezekiel 37:6 – 7).

An event will take place that will cause Israel’s awakening and the entire Earth will know the Almighty God of Israel through His power of delivering them from the armies of the North (Gog and Magog). However prior to this, Israel will feel hopeless and abandoned by her friends.  The Amplified Bible says, “Then he said to me, son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel.”Behold, they say, our bones are dried up and our hope is lost; we are completely cut off” (Ezekiel 37: 12 – 14).

At this point, the Lord will bring Israel and Judah together as one spiritual nation under God.    For the Lord will demand the children of Israel to follow His ordinances and heed His statutes.  Then, the Lord promised to heal their backsliding and they will become a changed people.

The prophecy of Gog and Magog

The world stage is set upon the main characters, Israel and the nations of Gog and Magog who will play in the final scene of this age as we know it. This is the point in time where God will sanctify Israel and give them eternal peace. But before this happens, God himself will bring the rulers of Gog and Magog from the north to come up against the nation of Israel. It is the Lord’s doing as He decides when His eternal kingdom will replace the current world system.

8 A long time from now you will be called into action. In the distant future you will swoop down on the land of Israel, which will be enjoying peace after recovering from war and after its people have returned from many lands to the mountains of Israel.  9 You and all your allies– a vast and awesome army– will roll down on them like a storm and cover the land like a cloud.  10 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: At that time evil thoughts will come to your mind, and you will devise a wicked scheme.                                                                                                      11 You will say, ‘Israel is an unprotected land filled with unwalled villages! I will march against her and destroy these people who live in such confidence!                                                                           12 I will go to those formerly desolate cities that are now filled with people who have returned from exile in many nations. I will capture vast amounts of plunder, for the people are rich with livestock and other possessions now. They think the whole world revolves around them!’                                                                           13 But Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish will ask, ‘Do you really think the armies you have gathered can rob them of silver and gold? Do you think you can drive away their livestock and seize their goods and carry off plunder?’                                              14 “Therefore, son of man, prophesy against Gog. Give him this message from the Sovereign LORD: When my people are living in peace in their land, then you will rouse yourself.                                15 You will come from your homeland in the distant north with your vast cavalry and your mighty army,  16 and you will attack my people Israel, covering their land like a cloud. At that time in the distant future, I will bring you against my land as everyone watches, and my holiness will be displayed by what happens to you, Gog. Then all the nations will know that I am the LORD. (Eze 38:8-16 NLT)

7 When the thousand years come to an end, Satan will be let out of his prison. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever (Rev 20:7-10 NLT).

News Report:

BEIRUT (AP) — The extremist group which controls large parts of northern Syria captured vast swaths of northern and western Iraq last month — is now in almost full control of a corridor stretching from the Syrian border town of Boukamal to the government-controlled provincial capital of Deir el-Zour to the northwest. Led by an ambitious Iraqi militant known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant this week unilaterally declared the establishment of an Islamic state, or caliphate, in the lands it has seized in Syria and Iraq. It proclaimed al-Baghdadi the head of its new self-styled state and demanded that all Muslims pledge allegiance to him. The new developments effectively expand and consolidate areas held by the group — which has shorted its name to the Islamic State — in territory straddling the border between the two conflict-ridden countries.

Etymology

The earliest record of the name of Cappadocia dates from the late 6th century BC, when it appears in the trilingual inscriptions of two early Achaemenid kings, Darius I and Xerxes, as one of the countries (Old Persian dahyu-) of the Persian Empire. In these lists of countries, the Old Persian name is Katpatuka, which means “the land, country of beautiful horses” .[2] Cappadocia could come from the Luwian, or Luvian language, meaning “Low Country”. [3] Herodotus tells us that the name of the Cappadocians was applied to them by the Persians while they were termed by the Greeks as “Syrians” or “White Syrians” Leucosyri. One of the Cappadocian tribes he mentions is the Moschoi, associated by Flavius Josephus with the biblical figure Meshech, son of Japheth: “and the Mosocheni were founded by Mosoch; now they are Cappadocians”. Fotolia_16003714_XSCappadocia is also mentioned in the Biblical account given in the book of Acts 2:9. The Cappadocians were named as one group hearing the Gospel account from Galileans in their own language on the day of Pentecost shortly after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Acts 2:5 seems to suggest that the Cappadocians in this account were “God-fearing Jews“. See Acts of the Apostles. The region is also mentioned in the Mishnah. Under the later kings of the Persian Empire, the Cappadocians were divided into two satrapies or governments.  One government comprised the central and inland portion to which the name of Cappadocia continued to be applied by Greek geographers, while the other was called Pontus. This division had already come about before the time of Xenophon. After the fall of the Persian government, the two provinces continued to be separate – the distinction was perpetuated and the name Cappadocia came to be restricted to the inland province (sometimes called Great Cappadocia).

Gen 10:2 The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.

18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.                         19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.                                                                                                     20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of MediaFotolia_49283939_XS and Persia.  21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.  22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.  23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.  24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. (8:18-24 KJV)

6 And he spoke terrible words of blasphemy against God, slandering his name and his dwelling– that is, those who dwell in heaven.                                                                                                        7 And the beast was allowed to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation.  Fotolia_61533222_XS-(1)                          8 And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life before the world was made– the Book that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered.               9 Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.  (Rev 13:6-9 NLT)                    God will call these nations from the north to test HIS faithfulness concerning Israel, then the will see  the defeat of Gog and Magog in those days.
