“What you see is what you get,” this old cliché once meant you must deal with your current circumstances as it is. However, vision is considerably more powerful than just plain eyesight. A person’s view is affected by a choice of rules by which one sees their universe.

Life’s state of affairs can influence perception.

“an experience in which a personage, thing, or event appears vividly or credibly to the mind, …”  Dictinary.com

The Bible warns the believer about two types of vision, an evil eye, and a good eye. The “good eye” is the spirit of an individual who perceives their world with a heart filled with grace.  On the other hand, an evil eye causes the entire body to become full of spiritual darkness. While the “good eye” is an individual who Chooses to perceive their world with a heart filled with grace.

Luke 11:34-35 New Living Translation                                                                                                                                    34 “Your eye is a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light. But when it is bad, your body is filled with darkness. 35 Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness.

Interestingly, the complete Jewish Bible say that the subject here is stingy giving in the Synagogue. These individuals fail to budget God’s work into their household budget.

CJB  Luke 11:34 The lamp of your body is the eye. When you have a ‘good eye,’ [that is, when you are generous,] your whole body is full of light; but when you have an ‘evil eye,’ [when you are stingy,] your body is full of darkness. (Luk 11:34 CJB)

The McDonald Idiom Translation says it is possible to experience a season of inappropriate thinking while interacting with God’s people.

MIT  Luke 11:34 Your body has a lamp—your eye. When your vision is clear, your entire being experiences illumination. When your eye does not see properly, your body experiences darkness. (Luk 11:34 MIT)

The ultimate verse of scripture which brings charity to the believers about the dangers of having a corrupt consciences in the Kingdom is Titus 1:15.

verb (used with object), saw, seen, seeing.  to perceive (things) mentally; discern; understand:  to see the point of an argument.

NLT  Titus 1:15 Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted. (Tit 1:15 NLT)

It seems that when it comes to Cristian fellowship, a dark heart seizes the opportunity for clear vision. In other words, when we look at a fellow Christian with dissatisfaction, that soul is seeded with spirit darkness. We are commanded by the Lord to forgive those who offended us.

NLT  2 Timothy 3:1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.

2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.

3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.

4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.

5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! (2Ti 3:1-5 NLT)

The Holy Spirit has a remedy for discontent for other, when we choose to esteem others higher than ourselves, the Holy Spirit promises to reveal Himself to that believer.

12 “I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment. I know where to discover knowledge and discernment.

13 All who fear the LORD will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech.

14 Common sense and success belong to me. Insight and strength are mine.

15 Because of me, kings reign, and rulers make just decrees.

16 Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments.

17 “I love all who love me. Those who search will surely find me.

18 I have riches and honor, as well as enduring wealth and justice.

19 My gifts are better than gold, even the purest gold, my wages better than sterling silver! (Pro 8:12-19 NLT)

Unfortunately, when the believer decides to view a bother or a sister with irritation, is in danger of the Lord turning that servant over to the tormentors.

32 Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said, ‘You evil servant! I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me.

33 Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’

34 Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt.

35 “That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.” (Mat 18:32-35 NLT)

For that believer who struggles with hurt and pain of the past, seek the help of a Christian Councilor with the understanding of Godly spiritual deliverance, God will help that Believer to become victorious.
