Tabernacle Prayer 2

Last weekend we attended a “Prayer Conference” at Guiding Light Church, in Birmingham, Al, USA. Pastor Jim Lowe hosted one of the most powerful and spirit-filled prayer conference that I have had the privilege to participate in a long time.
The worship grew louder and louder as the crowd praised the Glory of the Lord and ascribed greatness to His name. Everyone could sense the powerful presence of God’s Holy Spirit.
Each speaker taught about prayer and critical aspects surrounding specific functions of the prophets’ position in the Bible.

After the Conference, someone asked me regarding a statement I made concerning the corners of the prayer shawl or tassels known as tzitzits. The person inquiring noticed my calling the tassel by the Hebrew word, “kanaph” meaning corner. Listen to the following Bible story centered around the Prayer Shawl and the tzitzit.

There was a very courageous, but also very ill woman who lived by the sea of Tiberias, below the Mediterranean Sea. She lived in a lovely and fertile region on the Sea of Galilee, a lake 12 by 7 miles (20 by 11 km) and 700 feet (210 m).
One day, this champion of faith heard about a man whom many believed to be the promised Jew’s Messiah. Because of her apparent studies of the manuscript of the writings of Malachi, this woman demonstrated a complete awareness of the Messiah’s apparel.

As more Jews became secular, or materialistic, we have lost much of the Jewish culture except for those who remained faithful to the Torah. One of the main reasons Adonai placed Israel where it is located today is because this sacred land sits between two continents separated by the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. No one could travel from Asia to Africa unless they passed Israel’s borders. The Jews’ observance of Torah was designed to point man to God.

Notice that the tiny nation of Israel is located at the top of this map.

  1. Lebanon in the north, the Golan Heights and Syria in the northeast, the West Bank and Jordan in the east, the Gaza Strip and Egypt in the southwest.

If the Jews dressed in an ordinary fashion, no one would ask them, “Why do you dress that way?” It was the regulations of Torah that became their identity. The most important form of “faith'” is the substance that leads humankind to the Glory of God.

Complete Jewish Bible                                                                                   Matthew 9:20 A woman who had had a hemorrhage for twelve years approached him from behind and touched the tzitzit on his robe. (Mat 9:20 CJB)
It was only after the multitude saw the miracle of the tzitzit when they ran and brought their sick and diseased to Jesus. Again, this miracle of the tzitzit occurred.

35 When the people of the place recognized him, they sent word throughout the neighborhood and brought him everyone who was ill.
36 They begged him that the sick people might only touch the tzitzit on his robe, and all who touched it were completely healed.

Complete Jewish Bible                                                                                  Matthew 15:1 Then some P’rushim and Torah-teachers from Yerushalayim came to Yeshua and asked him,
2 “Why is it that your talmidim break the tradition of the Elders? They don’t do n’tilat-yadayim before they eat!”
3 He answered, “Indeed, why do you break the command of God by your tradition?” (Mat 14:35-15:3 CJB)

The Messiah’s garments tell the story of God’s covenant with the Hebrews. Thus, because she had a knowledge of the writings of Exodus, Numbers, Isaiah, and Ezekiel, it is no wonder that she saw the Jew’s Messiah, the Savior of the World in a light that some religious leaders totally missed. Her actions indicated her expectation of a literal manifestation would take place when she touched the tzitzit at the corner of the prayer shawl. Jesus was not surprised that the miracle happened. He was impressed that this woman understood, then acted on what she believed the prophecy of Malachi 4:2 meant:

2 “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture. (Mal 4:2 NLT)

On the day that this believing, sickly woman met Yeshua (Jesus Christ of Nazareth), she was armed and equipped with knowledge of the Jewish culture and Hebrew heritage.

What is amazing to me is that this anemic, tired, and weak woman of faith endured the pushing and shoving of the crowd and pushed forward! When she got to the Messiah, she reached for the tzitzit and released a prophetic conversation between God and the prophet Malachi.
To the woman, the Tillit was the Tabernacle, and the Sun of Righteousness was in His Holy Place under the Tallit.

8 “Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them.
9 You must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you.

Tzitzit (ציצית) translates from the Hebrew as “fringes” or “tassels.” The tzitzit are closely related to the tallit (טָלֵית), which translates from the Hebrew as “cloak.”

03671 @n”K’ kanaph {kaw-nawf’}
Meaning: 1) wing, extremity, edge, winged, border, corner, shirt 1a) wing 1b) extremity 1b1) skirt, corner (of garment)

Can you imagine the humility of Christ as He wears the Tallit, which represents a time when He was with His six-winged creatures – the protectors of His Holiness and Glory? With incredible compassion, Christ turned and looked into her weak and dim eyes. Then, He complimented her on her faith. While trembling in fear, this feeble servant had unlocked the doors of a Kingdom that was waiting for someone with the right key. It was as though she entered into the Tabernacle and said to the King, “I recognized you by Your tzitzit.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
