Sins of omissions are crowd favorite messages, designed to please audiences, but lack the power to cause change. Such as Adonai’s anger with the Prophet Jonah, who was afraid to preach the message of repentance to Ninevah. In the last days, the preacher will substitute the message of returning back to God into a message of how much God loves us. More about Ninevah, later …

The word “message”

mes·sage
/ˈmesij/
noun
1.
a verbal, written, or recorded communication sent to or left for a recipient who cannot be contacted directly.

I want to start this blog with a statement pulled from David H. Stern, the translator of the “Complete Jewish Bible, read by Millions Worldwide.”
Mr. Stern is a Messianic Jew, a Jew who honors Yeshua (Jesus Christ of Nazareth as the Messiah). As a distinguished and renowned Bible scholar, who has authored such works the list below.

  • According to Scholar and Biblical History expert, Dr. David H. Stern writes in the introduction of the Complete Jewish Bible, that the uppermost points of serious topics in the Bible are “sin, judgment, God’s will, repentance and, forgiveness,” in that order.

He writes the following: “After all, the Bible is God’s Word to humanity, the only completely reliable verbal communication God has given us. It is worthy of acceptance, belief, trust; it is his handbook for faith and practice. Since this is so, the writer of an introduction to the Bible necessarily shoulders a heavy responsibility, one in which informality and focus on oneself seem out of place.
Nevertheless, there is another side: precisely because the Bible deals with such serious topics as sin, judgment, God’s will, repentance and, forgiveness, as well as the role in life and history of Yeshua the Messiah (whom Christians call Jesus Christ). Readers of translations tend to forget that there is a very specific human input which does not date from Bible times and which both fosters and impedes their understanding of scripture, namely, the translator.” David H. Stern Hebrew Scholar Interpitor

Mr. Stern, (also a Hebrew multilingual expert) commented on the misinterpretation of translations since original manuscripts written before the King James version. Our Lord spoke of a time when humanism, often unrecognized by the messenger, might be instigated by demonic spirits. Tragically, men might think they are serving God when they are serving ‘human need’ because they did not labor to search out the culture of a Life, in which the body of the Messiah becomes tandem trailers of the Holy Spirit (Led by the Holy Spirit).

One purpose of the Word of God is that it brings a servant of Christ along the way of submission to the will of our sovereign King. On the other hand, the doctrine of error releases an individual from Godly remorse or conviction that could generate Godly recourse.

2 Corinthians 7:10-11 (New Living Translation)
10 For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.
11 Just see what this godly sorrow produced in you! Such earnestness, such concern to clear yourselves, such indignation, such alarm, such longing to see me, such zeal, and such a readiness to punish wrong. You showed that you have done everything necessary to make things right.

The true Gospel is a double-edged cutting sword that is remarkably sharp. His Word surgically removes the Humanism of the soul, as well as the disease of the mind.

Psalms 7:12-14
12 (11) God is a righteous judge,
a God whose anger is present every day.
13 (12) If a person will not repent,
he sharpens his sword.
He has bent his bow, made it ready;
14 (13) he has also prepared for him
weapons of death, his arrows,
which he has made into burning shafts.

Hebrews 4:12-13
12 See, the Word of God is alive! It is at work and is sharper than any double-edged sword—it cuts right through to where soul meets spirit and joints meet marrow, and it is quick to judge the inner reflections and attitudes of the heart. 13 Before God, nothing created is hidden, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.

For this reason, believers appreciate knowing and receiving both the ‘Grace of God’ and, ‘the outcome of the state of disobedience’.

Preaching for approval or acceptance might influence a person’s selection of scriptures that will excite the crowd. Moreover, his purpose is for popularity. Meanwhile, an individual might be sitting in the audience struggling with specific sins in his heart. This person does not need hype. He needs knowledge of scripture that will teach him how to avoid traps and slippery pathways that can take him out of the Will of Adonai. During a faith crisis, a believer needs to hear the totality (and in context) Word of God. By gaining a fully comprehensive understanding of his salvation and deliverance (the breaking of strongholds from past experiences) will help him to continue his Christian journey without wavering back and forth.

Romans 4:11-12
11 In fact, he received circumcision as a sign, as a seal of the righteousness, he had been credited with on the ground of the trust he had while he was still uncircumcised. This happened so that he could be the father of every uncircumcised person who trusts and thus has righteousness credited to him, 12 and at the same time be the father of every circumcised person who not only has had a b’rit-milah, but also follows in the footsteps of the trust which Avraham Avinu (Father Abraham) had when he was still uncircumcised.

Romans 2:28
28-29 Following is a very literal rendering of these significant Jewish verses:
“For not the in-the-open [a] Jew is, and not the in-the-open in flesh circumcision. On the contrary, the in-the-secret [is a] Jew; and circumcision of heart, in spirit not letter; of whom the praise [is] not from people but from God.”

Paul’s purpose in writing this letter was to refute the heretical teaching that was influencing the Colossian church. Paul’s references to circumcision, food regulations and feast days (Col. 2:11-16) indicate that this heresy involved Judaistic tendencies. It differed from the heresy in Galatia in that it integrated an early form of Gnostic philosophy which consisted of ascetic ideas (Col. 2:20-23), and the worship of angels as intermediaries between God and man (Col. 2:18, 19). Supposedly, one could achieve perfection by progressing through a number of initiations and levels of wisdom in spiritual mysteries.

Even after the ascension of Yeshua (Jesus Christ), the church is still having to refute doctrines that are contrary to God’s plan and desire, such as Jonah, who believed that Ninevah would reject the Word from Adonai.
Thus, Adonai became angry at Jonah and sent a storm to assemble a meeting between Jonah and Himself. Jewish readers perceive the name of Jonah’s father as “Amathi” which means “my truth.” Because Jonah was running from his assignment, the Lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm that threatened to break the ship apart.

Jonah 1:1-3
Jonah runs from the Lord
1 The Lord gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai:

Amittai (; Hebrew: אֲמִתַּי ‎‎, my truth; Latin: Amathi; Arabic: Matta ‎‎) was the father of the Prophet Jonah. He was also a native of Gath-hepher. In the Bible Amittai is only mentioned twice in the Bible, in 2 Kings 14:25 and Jonah 1: 1.

2 “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are.”
3 But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the Lord by sailing to Tarshish.

Jonah 1:4-6
4 But the Lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm that threatened to break the ship apart. 5 Fearing for their lives, the desperate sailors shouted to their gods for help and threw the cargo overboard to lighten the ship.
But all this time Jonah was sound asleep down in the hold. 6 So the captain went down after him. “How can you sleep at a time like this?” he shouted. “Get up and pray to your god! Maybe he will pay attention to us and spare our lives.”

H7307. רוּחַ rûaḥ: A feminine noun meaning spirit, wind, breath. The word is used to refer to the Spirit of God or the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord inspired prophets to utter their prophecies (Num. 11:17, 25; 1 Sam. 10:6; 19:20); the Spirit of the Lord moved the prophets in time and space, as in the case of Elijah (1 Kgs. 18:12; Ezek. 2:2).

The winds of Heaven reached out over the seas to get the preacher’s attention and to remind him that repentance is an important part of the message.

The Wind of God
H5591. סַעַר sa‘ar, סְעָרָה se‘ārāh:
A masculine noun meaning a stormy wind, a tempest, a whirlwind. It refers to a strong gale, a windstorm. It is used figuratively of one’s enemies (Ps. 55:8[9]); of God’s pursuit of them (Ps. 83:15[16]); and God’s wrath in judgment (Jer. 23:19; Amos 1:14). It refers to a storm at sea (Jon. 1:4, 12). A feminine noun indicating a strong wind, a tempest, a whirlwind. It is similar to I. It indicates a powerful gale, high winds, a windstorm. It was such a whirlwind that took Elijah up to heaven (2 Kgs. 2:1, 11). The Lord speaks from such a windstorm (Job 38:1; 40:6); and uses it to shield His presence (Ezek. 1:4; Zech. 9:14). It was God’s tool at the Exodus (Ps. 107:25, 29); and His tool in judgment (Isa. 29:6; 40:24; Jer. 30:23).

In the United States from May 7-30 2019, 54 Tornados watches were issued from Wyoming to Atlanta’s coastline, covering 1.1 Million square miles in just one week. There were at least 757 in 28 states, where three were powerful category F4 Tornados. The rise of the Arkansas River breached, sending floodwaters into farmland, where over 1,600 miles along the Arkansas River basin damaging. What is amazing at this point is how Yeshua (Jesus of Nazareth) protected the lies of people during over a month of Tornadic activity. How mighty is our God?

Therefore, is there a reason why Jesus Christ would rebuke the storm that appeared over the Sea of Galilee where the translators used the Greek word ἐπιτιμάω epitimáō instead the Greek ἐπιτιμία epitimía?
ἐπιτιμάω epitimáō is not a hard rebuke, no wonder the Disciples minds were blown, that is, Christ effortlessly rebuked the storm. Just like your last storm was to reveal who you are in the Messiah, but was never sent to remain. The Gospel of John is filled with the tenet of the Messiah, that is the list of the things only the true Messiah is able to do.

Mattityahu (Matthew) 8:26-27 (see p. 36). Calming wind and waves recall Psalm 107:28-29, “Then they cried out to Adonai in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper, and the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.” Yeshua’s miracle reflects this psalm and shows how the New Testament establishes Yeshua’s divinity.

Psalms 107:28-31
28 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble,
and he saved them from their distress.
29 He calmed the storm to a whisper
and stilled the waves.
30 What a blessing was that stillness
as he brought them safely into harbor!
31 Let them praise the Lord for his great love
and for the wonderful things he has done for them.

Strong’s number system 2008. ἐπιτιμάω epitimáō; contracted epitimṓ, fut. epitimḗsō, from epí (G1909), upon, and timáō (G5091), to evaluate. In the NT, to punish, rebuke, charge.

(I) One may rebuke another without bringing that one to a conviction of any fault, perhaps because there may have not been any fault or because there was a fault, but the rebuke was insufficient and ineffectual to bring the offender to acknowledge it.
Therefore, epitimáō is merely the rebuke without any result in the person who is being rebuked.

For instance, Peter or the other disciples were prone to rebuke (epitimáō) the Lord or others (Matt. 16:22; 19:13; Mark 8:32; 10:13; Luke 18:15; 19:39), but without any effect upon the Lord or the other people rebuked.
The same is true when the penitent robber rebuked (epitimṓn) his fellow malefactor (Luke 23:40). With the idea of punishment (Jude 1:9 quoted from Zech. 3:2). Followed by the dat. of thing and implying a desire to restrain, e.g., spoken of winds and waves (Matt. 8:26; Mark 4:39; Luke 8:24; Sept.: Ps. 106:9); of a fever (Luke 4:39).
(II) By implication, to admonish strongly, with urgency, authority, i.e., to enjoin upon, charge strictly, the idea of censure being implied, e.g., demons, followed by the dat. (Matt. 17:18; Mark 1:25; 9:25; Luke 4:35, 41; 9:42); of persons (Luke 9:21).
