Power of His Word

Power of His Word

As the Body of Christ worships our Lord God and Savior, Jesus Christ are we fully aware of the awe-inspiring power of His words? Jesus is called the Word of God.  He is the creator of the universe and He did it all with only words – just words. By a similar method, everything He made will disengage at His words.

NLT  Colossians 1:16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see– such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.         (Col 1:16 NLT)

Every aspect of the earth’s existence is under Jesus’ authority which includes science, physics, mankind and the spirit realm. They all conform to the words of the King of Glory.

As the entire universe responds to the authority of the Son of God, this same authority cleanses the heart and ways of a sinner – reversing his or her destiny. We are actually kept in Christ by the same power that keeps the sun and moon in place. Even the devil nor demons can’t take us away from the powerful love Christ has for His body. The only thing that can dislodge a believer from this divine relationship is that he or she walks away from God and submits this allegiance to a different authority.

NLT  Psalm 119:1 Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the LORD.

2 Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts.

3 They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths.

4 You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully.

 (Psa 119:1-4 NLT)

It is very difficult for any person to be enthralled by the loving message of the Cross of Christ and then turn away from His invitation. How can one reject His sacrifice and then expect the same redeeming results again and again? This is not a person who simply falls into sin or makes a mistake. This is a person who has knowingly rejected Christ as the Savior of the world. Of course, I am not saying that we should not pray for this person. I believe that when we pray, God will give him/her a broken and repenting heart. The sum of all things remains in Christ’s hands.

6 and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame. (Heb 6:6 NLT)

What believer is willing to put Christ to open shame when He desires our praise?

NLT  2 Corinthians 2:8 So I urge you now to reaffirm your love for him. (2Co 2:8 NLT)

In the King James version of the Bible the term for “word” in Hebrews 4:12 describes the word of God as a living entity. It is  logos {log’-os}  1a) a word, uttered by a living voice, embodies a conception or idea.

The word “quick” has even a more important meaning – “living, alive”.
Meaning:  1) to live, breathe, be among the living (not lifeless, not dead) 2) to enjoy real life 2a) to have true life and worthy of the name 2b)active, blessed, endless in the kingdom of God

The Complete Jewish Bible uses an exclamation point to place emphasis on the word, “live.” It is as if the “Word” doesn’t just sit in the head, but that it teaches the heart and the soul of man. In addition, the “Living Word of God,” lets the believer know the difference between good and bad before they actually do wrong or think of something that is against the Will of God.

12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

 (Heb 4:12-13 NLT)

This is why whenever the Scroll is brought into the sanctuary of the Jewish congregation, the people of God dance and kiss their Bibles, then lightly touch them onto the Torah Scroll as symbolic of kissing the Son. After the service, the Rabbi places the scroll into an ark casing, (not into a desk drawer), until the next meeting. Wow!
