⁸ Watch yourselves so that you won’t lose what you have worked for, but will receive your full reward. ⁹ Everyone who goes ahead and does not remain true to what the Messiah has taught does not have God. Those who remain true to his teaching have both the Father and the Son. ¹⁰ If someone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, don’t welcome him into your home. Don’t even say, “Shalom!” to him; ¹¹ for the person who says, “Shalom!” to him shares in his evil deeds.

⁴³ “When an unclean spirit comes out of a person, it travels through dry country seeking rest and does not find it. ⁴⁴ Then it says to itself, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house standing empty, swept clean and put in order. ⁴⁵ Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they come and live there—so that in the end, the person is worse off than he was before. This is how it will be for this wicked generation.”

2885. κοσμέω kosméō; contracted kosmṓ, fut. kosmḗsō, from kósmos (G2889), world, adorning, order. To order, set in order (Matt. 12:44; Luke 11:25; Sept.: Ezek. 23:41). To adorn, garnish, decorate the sepulchers with garlands and flowers or by adding columns or other ornaments (Matt. 23:29). It was a custom among the Greeks as well as the Jews not only to erect, but also to repair and adorn the monuments of those who had merited them or who had suffered an undeserved death. To trim, as a lamp (Matt. 25:7). Metaphorically to honor, dignify (1 Tim. 2:9, “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves”; Titus 2:10; 1 Pet. 3:5; Rev. 21:2, 19; Sept.: Jer. 4:30; Ezek. 16:11). This may refer to the internal adorning of the soul, but the external appearance is also implied.

Then some of the traveling Jewish exorcists also attempted to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “I implore you and solemnly command you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches!” ¹⁴ Seven sons of one [named] Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. ¹⁵ But the evil spirit retorted, “I know and recognize and acknowledge Jesus, and I know about Paul, but as for you, who are you?” ¹⁶ Then the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them so that they ran out of that house [in terror, stripped] naked and wounded. ¹⁷ This became known to all who lived in Ephesus, both Jews and Greeks. And fear fell upon them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified and exalted. ¹⁸ Many of those who had become believers were coming, confessing and disclosing their [former sinful] practices. ¹⁹And many of those who had practiced magical arts collected their books and [throwing book after book on the pile] began burning them in front of everyone. They calculated their value and found it to be 50,000 pieces of silver. ²⁰ So the word of the Lord [concerning eternal salvation through faith in Christ] was growing greatly and prevailing.

The sons of one, named Sceva, had no power over that demon spirit, nor the relation with Messiah, to have received such authority. As of Acts 19:15, the demon spirits know who they can attack, moreover, the territories where they have the freedom to operate.

But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out the demons, then the Kingdom of God has come upon you. ²⁹ Or how can anyone go into a strong man’s house and steal his property unless he first overpowers and ties up the strong man? Then he will ransack and rob his house.

Within spiritual warfare, when we are totally submitted to Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the signs of His power follows us. As we remain in harmony with Yeshua, His Kingdom is activated and aroused and ready for the battle. The believers in Ephesians were afraid when they found out that the purpose of the Messiah was to rid the earth of demonic rituals. The World belongs to ADONAI and HIS righteous Kingdom, and the only place demons have freedom is in the rebellious sphere related to human activity or demon worship.

Conditions of One’s Heart

So, when the demon spirit returns and finds conditions, as to adorning, garnishing, decorating, and embellishments, to the demon, nothing has changed from one’s last state of mind, and the Holy Spirit is not occupying the home. Then the demon spirit returns with reinforcements finding a home in a rebellious body.

There is no strongman in the house to protect it, and as a light beckoning the evil spirit traveler through time and space, he will return to the house where he came from, only except where the Messiah says “do not return.”

When we place the devil’s signature on the property we dedicate, he takes over any and all characteristics appropriate for him.
