True Grace

True Grace

Can we say that the “Grace” of the ancient text is the “Grace” of today’s teaching?  Is there a scripture that precisely defines the meaning of the Greek word χρις “Grace?”

The Strong’s Concordance word number 5485  χάρις charis {khar’-ece} Means “Grace”

Savior on the CrossScripture says that we are saved by grace, not by man’s efforts. God indicated His dislike for redemption through Temple righteous, that’s justification by animal sacrifice. The Temple corruption led people into a false salvation. Numerous animals sacrificed were made by people who never had a heart for God.  We are reminded that salvation is an undeserved gift from God, as the scripture says.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Eph 2:8-9 KJV)

Romans 11:6-7

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. 7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (Rom 11:6-7 KJV)

True Grace

Strong’s Meaning1) grace 2a) of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues

3a) the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace 4) thanks, (for benefits, services, favours), recompense, reward

Interestingly, Romans 11:7 says “but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded,” is grace something that is sometimes misunderstood or hidden?

6 And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is– free and undeserved.  7 So this is the situation: Most of the people of Israel have not found the favor of God they are looking for so earnestly. A few have– the ones God has chosen– but the hearts of the rest were hardened. (Rom 11:6-7 NLT)

Fortunately, Apostle Peter clears up the matter with his Godly Strong Foundation Words on Marble Pillars Columnsinspirational writing.  His instructions were for the believers (us) to stand against the Devil. Stand firm in your faith. Peter did not say to give in to temptation, then hide behind grace.  In Peter’s words, the true grace of God carries additional benefits.  God empowers the believer to suffer through that period of testing, while the Lord aids him in his stance.

1 Peter 5:10-12

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.  11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 12 By Silvanus, a faithful brother unto you, as I suppose, I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand. (1Pe 5:10-12 KJV)

Grace: 2a) of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls.

This Strong’s explanation is that God exerts His influence on the believer, adding to that saint’s life a greater stability.  Amazingly, Christ gets involved in the believers walk.  This is true grace.

The rest of the definition of the word grace χάρις charis {khar’-ece} Means “Grace” includes these words.

turn them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues” Strong’s Concordance.

As a result, grace restores, it keeps, and enriches one with improved capacities, efficiently empowering His Church.

The Complete Jewish Bible says:

9 Stand against him, firm in your trust, knowing that your brothers throughout the world are going through the same kinds of suffering.  10 You will have to suffer only a little while; after that, God, who is full of grace, the one who called you to his eternal glory in union with the Messiah, will himself restore, establish and strengthen you and make you firm.  11 To him be the power forever and ever. Amen. (1Pe 5:9-11 CJB)
