Blood Covenant

The Amazing Blood Covenant

In our blog on “Legitimacy and Adoption,” many people expressed their appreciation for its content. In “Legitimacy,” we tried to bring out some compelling circumstances surrounding a Christian’s adoption into the family of God. We also discussed the value and the cost of grace on Christ’s behalf, made available to us when God offered a passage into His divine family by utilizing a covenant of eternal Salvation.

But why is it important today to understand subjects such as Legitimacy of the believer, or the Shadows of things to come, that point to Christ?
First of all, the more one knows about a particular subject furnishes a more significant impact and when one speaks authoritatively on any subject, the listeners usually give more thought to the talk.
Atheists, agnostics and even pagans respect the truth that is historical or scientific. Plus our Heavenly Father has provided more than 66 books of infallible truth regarding Shadows that point to the Jewish Messiah, as the Savior of the world.

One particular example of a shadow that points to Christ is Moses, the faithful priest in the Temple. And, there is father Abraham who believed that God was able to return his son Isaac alive, which points to God as giving His only begotten Son as a sacrifice for our sins. Then at the appointed time, Christ is raised from the dead and returns to the Father which is in Heaven.

Cultures Who Understand Sacrificial Blood Covenants

By God’s grace, I was on an airplane headed to Belgium, and a group of Egyptian Muslims was traveling on the same flight. These men were the same ones who fought to overthrow the nation of Egypt. On that long trip, we had time to discuss the nature and character of God. I shared some things about an essential characteristic of God, and that God always does what is right. At that, the leader set back to ponder what that could mean. Again, while on an eleven-day trip to Pakistan, the Shiite Muslims wanted to hold a meeting with me about my teachings there. The Muslim group came and asked me, “Who is your father?” I replied “Abraham.” I knew that in Judaism and Islam, ancestry is significant; this is to say, all believers’ lineage points to the Abrahamic Covenant. Therefore, now Christ is the fulfillment of that covenant.

The life of the body is in the Blood

Leviticus 17:11

Whereas, Abraham was going to sacrifice his son, Isaac; the Heavenly Father sacrificed His Son Who is our high priest, and our Savior, Yeshua (Jesus Christ of Nazareth). The name Isaac means to smile. Another shadow in the Bible is that God anointed Jesus with the “oil of gladness.” (Heb. 1:9 KJV).

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
One Sacrifice of Christ is Sufficient
1 For since the Law has only a shadow [just a pale representation] of the good things to come—not the very image of those things—it can never, by offering the same sacrifices continually year after year, make perfect those who approach [its altars].
Hebrews 10:1

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
17 Such things are only a shadow of what is to come, and they have only symbolic value, but the substance [the reality of what is foreshadowed] belongs to Christ.
Colossians 2:17

(Bible History of the OT 7 Vols.)
Thus Melchizedek, the last representative of the Shemitic order, is the type of Christ, as the last representative of the Abrahamic order. What lay in germ in Melchizedek was to be gradually unfolded–the priesthood in Aaron, the royalty in David–till both were most gloriously united in Christ. Melchizedek was, however, only a shadow and a type; Christ is the reality and the antitype. It is for this reason that Scripture has shut to us the sources of historical investigation about his descent and duration of life, which by its silence might point to the heavenly lineage of Jesus (Genesis 13).

We can only believe what we understand.

So, when ministers create the picture of the culture within the Sanctuary, they are telling the story the way that Adonai, the God of Israel is telling the story. Each item in the Sanctuary is laid out in a particular pattern according to the foreshadowing of events leading up to the Jews’ sanctification and the justification of the non-Jewish believers. However, we will only speak of the use of “the Blood of Christ,” used by the priests to purify the objects of the Sanctuary.

The Blood Of Christ

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
11 But when Christ appeared as a High Priest of the good things to come [that is, true spiritual worship], He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not a part of this [material] creation. 12 He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].
Hebrews 9:11-12
Just as Abraham offered up his son Issac, which was a shadow of things to come, Jesus Christ offers up Himself.
The Father planned to create the perfect solution where Adonai would make a sacrifice as part of a covenant offering. The Suffering Messiah’s Life was the price for payment of our ramson.

(New Living Translation (NLT) Study Bible Notes)
8:29-30: But who do you say I am? In the Greek text, you are emphatic. Peter responded to the group, You are the Messiah (or the Christ; Messiah (a Hebrew term) and Christ (a Greek term) both mean “the anointed one.” Peter’s confession was correct, as the command not to tell anyone about him indicates (see “The Secret of the Messiah” at 3:11-12; see also 1:1; 14:61-62; Matt 16:17).

(NLT Study Bible Text,)
11 for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.
Leviticus 17:11

Many Bible students must have asked this question at some time: Was Adonai using a metaphor while examining Cain for answers about his brother Abel’s where-a-bouts? The Lord seems to be personifying the blood of Abel as crying for justice, which is a human trait. If Abel’s body was dead, how could his blood cry out to GOD, or does Abel’s blood carry an autonomous ability of self-governing? Abel’s blood seems to be demanding justice.

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
14 having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of legal demands [which were in force] against us and which were hostile to us. And this certificate He has set aside and completely removed by nailing it to the cross. 15 When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities [those supernatural forces of evil operating against us], He made a public example of them [exhibiting them as captives in His triumphal procession], having triumphed over them through the cross.
Colossians 2:14-15

(Complete Word Study Bible)
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:8-11

(Complete Jewish Bible)
9 Therefore God raised him to the highest place
and gave him the name above every name;
10 that in honor of the name given Yeshua,
every knee will bow—
in heaven, on earth and under the earth—
11 and every tongue will acknowledge
that Yeshua the Messiah is ADONAI—
to the glory of God the Father.
Philippians 2:9-11

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
9 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” And he [lied and] said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 The Lord said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s [innocent] blood is crying out to Me from the ground [for justice]. 11 And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s [shed] blood from your hand. 12 When you cultivate the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength [it will resist producing good crops] for you; you shall be a fugitive and a vagabond [roaming aimlessly] on the earth [in perpetual exile without a home, a degraded outcast].” 13 Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.
Genesis 4:9-13

The phenomenal Role of Blood in the Human Body

The Lord made human blood with an astonishing automatic self-engaging sense of its own, detecting and destroying invading cells.

americasblood.org
“Blood is the red fluid that circulates in our blood vessels, i.e., veins and arteries. The main function of blood is to act as the body’s transport system, but it also has a major role in the body’s defense against infection. There is no substitute for blood. It cannot be made or manufactured.                    Donors are the only source of blood for patients who need it.
Red cells, white cells, and platelets are made in the marrow of bones, especially the vertebrae, ribs, hips, skull, and sternum. These essential blood cells fight infection, carry oxygen and help control bleeding.”

(Easton’s Bible Dictionary)
(2.) The blood of sacrifices was caught by the priest in a basin, and then sprinkled seven times on the altar; that of the Passover on the doorposts and lintels of the houses (Ex. 12; Lev 4:5 7; 16:14-19). At the giving of the law (Ex 24:8 the blood of the sacrifices was sprinkled on the people as well as on the altar, and thus the people were consecrated to God, or entered into covenant with him, hence the blood of the covenant(Matt 26:28; Heb 9:19, 20; Heb 9:19; 13:20).

(3.) Human blood. The murderer was to be punished (Gen 9:5. The blood of the murdered “crieth for vengeance” (Gen 4:10).

The “avenger of blood” was the nearest relative of the murdered, and he was required to avenge his death (Num 35:24, 27).

No satisfaction could be made for the guilt of murder (Num 35:31).
When “T” Cells in human blood fights against intruders within the human body with a person’s knowledge.

Helper T cells are actually quite important and interesting. They are activated by Interleukin-1, produced by macrophages. Once activated, Helper T cells produce Interleukin-2, then interferon and other chemicals. These chemicals activate B cells so that they produce antibodies. The complexity and level of interaction between neutrophils, macrophages, T cells and B cells is really quite amazing.

Because white blood cells are so crucial to the immune system, they are used as a measure of immune system health. An article like Introduction to Hematology can help you learn more about white blood cells in general and the different types of white blood cells found in your body.
One important question to ask about white blood cells (and several other parts of the immune system) is, “How does a white blood cell know what to attack and what to leave alone? Why doesn’t a white blood cell attack every cell in the body?” There is a system built into all of the cells in your body called the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) (also known as the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA)) that marks the cells in your body as “you.” Anything that the immune system finds that does not have these markings (or that has the wrong markings) is definitely “not you” and is therefore fair game. Encyclopedia Britannica has this to say about the MHC:

So when we ask, “How does blood purify us?” The answer is, human blood has white blood cells that not only fight viruses and diseases but also remembers the specific details of which chemical solution killed off the attackers. Also, they recognize the enemy, a process called immunization. When a doctor introduces a flu virus into a patient, white blood cells will identify the flu virus as enemy cells; then a war breaks out to destroy the invaders.

The Divine Blood of Christ

(Amplified Bible – AMP)
11 But when Christ appeared as a High Priest of the good things to come [that is, true spiritual worship], He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not a part of this [material] creation. 12 He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].
